Coping with migraine can be an extremely difficult and isolating experience, as it is not always recognised, or diagnosed as other conditions.  Migraine is often downplayed and misjudged by many non-sufferers who fail to understand how difficult living with migraine can be. Therefore, being able to meet people in a similar situation is extremely important, as they can help provide understanding and support that you may need.

Your local support group

Many support groups have been formed over the years to enable migraineurs to meet locally and share experiences. All the support groups are run by volunteers who usually meet up once a month to exchange views or listen to speakers on migraine related topics. A good way of finding information and support is to join a Migraine Action support group near you, please click here to view the full list of support groups.

If you cannot find a local support group, why not consider setting one up

We can give you the help and guidance you need to start your own support group, and put you in touch with other group leaders who can provide you with some useful tips.  We will also assist you with literature and support you in any activities or events that you organise.  Although it can be hard work at times, it can also be very rewarding - email us for further information.

Get involved with activities and events

In addition to offering information and support, our voluntary support groups also get actively involved in other activities. These could include fundraising for Migraine Action, planning events and help raising awareness.  To get involved, contact your local support group now.

Do you need medical advice?

Our voluntary groups meet and discuss members individual migraine experiences, but they cannot give medical advice. If you need specific medical advice, please contact your pharmacist or local GP, or in specific cases, your GP may refer you to a neurologist.
