The City of London Migraine Clinic wants to look closely at genes to gain more information on why some women get menstrual migraine and compare with others who do not. Identification of genes involved could ultimately lead to the development of more effective treatment of this disabling type of migraine.
Volunteering
If you have migraine linked to your periods or have done so in the past (called "menstrual migraine"), please consider taking part. If you have female friends or colleagues (not relatives) who are lucky enough to have never had migraine, the Clinic would also like them to participate. If they are not sure if they have migraine they can do the ID Migraine test on the website at www.migraineclinic.org.uk to find out.
The Study
The study involves one visit to the City of London Migraine Clinic to complete a questionnaire and provide a saliva sample by mouth swab for genetic testing. Additionally, you may be asked to provide a blood sample which is optional. Reasonable travel expenses can be refunded. The visit will take about an hour in total.
