Migraine Art: Winners Announced!

Migraine Art Competition

In September 2005, MAA launched an art competition inviting artists to graphically express the impact migraine has on their life. Entry to the competition closed on March 31st 2006.

The standard of entries was extremely high, which made the task of selecting the 8 winners quite challenging. However, after careful consideration, the 3 judges (MAA Trustee Mrs Linda Hunter, Director of Clinical Research at the City of London Migraine Clinic, Dr Anne MacGregor, and artist and migraine sufferer, Ms Debbie Ayles) selected the winning entries:

1st Prize

The Migraine Tree
by Mr M Sheeky
2nd Prize

Cancelled
by Mrs S Game
3rd Prize

Senses Under Assault
by Mrs H Mogridge

Highly Commended Awards:

Another Wasted Day
by Mrs Croser

Anti-Diffusion
by Mr A Sabnis

Distortion
by Ms V Ongaro

Migraine
by Mr Polgar

Migraine's Stream of consciousness
by Mrs M Macgregor

Members of the public were then invited to vote for their favourite of the 8 winning entries either on the MAA website or at various events where the artwork was being displayed. Voting closed at the end of Migraine Awareness Week on 9th September 2006. The entry with the most votes was awarded the Public Choice Award.

With more than 35% of the votes, this award went to "Senses Under Assault".

Congratulations to all the winners.

We would like to thank everyone who took part in the competition and AstraZeneca for their support for the project. All the artwork submitted will be used in a variety of different ways to help raise awareness and a better understanding of migraine.
